Classroom - Naui's presentation of the materials makes it easy to learn. One worry I had upon starting the course was that my Daughter is dyslexic and might have problems with all the required reading. The information is contained not only by book these days but on audio cd and DVD. I ripped the DVD to her ipod and she has immersed herself in that and has a good grasp on the knowledge base. My only worry now is the test and if any accommodations can be made for her to take it.
Pool - Snorkeling skills were easy for her as she has been snorkeling quite a bit. Took her a few tries to get the tuck dive down pat, but she stuck with it and was able to get the hang of it. 50ft underwater swim take 2 was again unsuccessful. I have seen her playing in the pool before and she can stay under much longer than she is making it. She says she just is getting nervous about the swim. At least she has till checkout dives to get it done.
She is still enjoying all aspects and is excited to continue.
Hi John... family in the water is awesome! Carie & I can't wait to have kids and stick them on compressed air ourselves.
Get in touch via PM if the dyslexia, the 50ft swim, or ears cause an issue with passing the course. Carie is an amazing instructor, and takes the time to work through potential roadblocks one on one. Maybe she can help you out. I struggled through dyslexia myself, and completely understand the challenges of test taking. Accommodations should be made for your daughter.

Then came the test of getting underwater for the confined water skills, first attempt she made it to the bottom of the dive well and we thought we had a breakthrough, unfortunately it was short lived she started pointing at her ears and needed to surface. Several more attempts were made to get her to depth but were met with ear pain. It looks like it is time for a trip to the doctor to check her ears, she has been able to clear in the past, to figure out what is going on. She plans to join in with the next session of OW classes and keep trying to follow her dream.
